My story

Accidents do happen everyday..but have you ever heard of accidents building a career for someone?

There you go…My name is Khooram Irani and I call myself as an “accidental dog trainer” simply because I tried hands at various hobbies I first thought I loved but later decided it was time to let them go, because if you love something…..

So here I am honing my skills as a dog behaviourist every passing day. As the story goes back in time, I had adopted my pet Roslyn off the streets when she was just 15 days old as her mother was unfortunately runover by a truck. Little did i know a few years later that instead of giving her a home and a family, I had actually created a bad impact on her life. Unknowingly and not really knowing about dog’s behaviour, I possibly did all the wrong things one could do while raising her from a puppy to an adult. I believe that’s a story with everyone since it’s always the first time you get your first pet and start learning the balance together.

Before things could go out of hand and ofcourse because of my keen interest to study more into the world of dog behaviour, I thought it was worthwhile seeking an expert advice. Hence I got myself certified from the best institute along with working at a boarding facility. They say ‘a practical experience is worth a thousand books’ and hence the experience gained at the boarding facility handling more than 40 dogs with different breeds, sized with different temperaments, coming from different families on a daily basis was worth it.  This experience was key to nurturing me into the professional dog trainer and behaviourist that I am today.

Dog training isn’t a cookie cutter formula and until today I believe that everyday is a learning experience since no two dogs are the same. The core philosophy of training dogs is always to be positive and upbeat, and it should also carry into your attitude towards people. My methods of training dogs seem deceptively simple because they are based on an understanding of dogs, their ability to learn, the way they perceive the world around them and respond to stimuli, and their social structure.

I think it’s time for me to buy Roslyn(my pet) good clothes, good shoes, good shades…but wait a minute!! Does this sound too human?? Aah…and that is precisely what we need to be doing with our pets! The more you treat them as one of you, the better you will be able to understand them. I have learnt the key to successful dog training is to learn to think like a dog…it’s taking the viewpoint of a dog and not a person.

Today whenever I start my training with a new dog especially a puppy I ensure I educate the pet parents because I believe the training is just isn’t for the pet but for the parents too. Roslyn’s behaviour and temparement is always at the back of my mind when I’m training a dog, and i guess that has majorly been the reason to my success, apart from my ex clients and veterinarians who consistently recommend me.

We cannot wait to meet your dog.
